We are thankful to Reconnectklamath.org for the work they have done and continue to do for the Klamath Basin.
You will enjoy the aerial view to observe the magnitude of the landscape.
With hopeful thoughts for the recovery of the Klamath Basin, for the native populations, restoring the natural habitats that sustained their ancestors, for a better future.
Allie Hostler, a Hoopa Tribal Member, thinks that removing the Copco dams could also be a way to “break down the barriers that have kept our people from flourishing as communities” with “a real chance for healing in this basin.”
Later in the flight we meet Barry McCovey Jr., a fisheries biologist with the Yurok Tribe, pointing out the algae blooms that consume oxygen, depleting water quality for a healthy aquatic environment.
He talks about the energy flow between the river forest and the Pacific Ocean, utilizing nutrients to restore balance to the Klamath Basin.
Enjoy!
