2026 Water Transformations: The Klamath River

"Healing, Not Healed" Rewilded

We thank Rewilded http://www.youtube.com/@RewildedNow for documenting an unprecedented parasite epidemic affecting the life cycle of Chinook salmon in the upper Klamath River.

The parasite Ceratonova shasta is thriving in warm waters, infecting and killing juvenile Chinook salmon. Multiple environmental factors are creating the conditions for the parasite to thrive, including low snowpack, lower water flows, and rising water temperatures.
